DNM grants or refuses within 30 working days of receiving the recommendation (art. 4).

04Legal record

How the programme got here.

Decree 366/2025 published Law

An emergency decree amends the Citizenship Law, including citizenship for relevant investments, and moves citizenship decisions from federal judges to the National Migration Directorate.

Decree 524/2025 regulates the route Law

Creates the procedure, names the vetting bodies and sets the 30-working-day decision window. No investment amount is set.

Electoral Chamber declares Decree 366/2025 null Risk

In an individual naturalisation case, the National Electoral Chamber held that granting citizenship belongs to the federal courts, not the executive.

Government announces Supreme Court appeal Pending

The government said it would keep working on the regulations whatever the outcome.

Programme announced in Paris Announced

Economy Minister Luis Caputo and Chief of Cabinet Diego Santilli present both routes at Argentina Week. Applications expected in Q4 2026.

05Before you apply

What could go wrong.

Most firms put these in the small print. We put them before the form.

Open risk

The legal basis is in court

The decree that moved citizenship decisions to the Migration Directorate was declared null on 30 June 2026, and the government is appealing. The investment route's final decision runs through that Directorate. Until the Supreme Court rules, how approvals are issued could change.

Not published

Total cost is not yet known

Government, due-diligence and agent fees have not been published. Any all-in figure quoted today is an estimate. We will publish the official schedule the day it appears.

Not published

Bond terms are unknown

For the USD 800,000 route, tenor, coupon, currency, lock-in and resale rules are all unpublished. Treat the bond as illiquid until the terms say otherwise.

New programme

No track record

There are no approval statistics, refusal rates or real processing times yet. First-intake applicants carry the risk of procedures changing mid-file.

Home country

Dual nationality at home

Argentina allows it. Several GCC states restrict or prohibit it, and holding a second nationality without permission can have serious consequences. Confirm your position before you pay anything.

Non-refundable

The contribution is a donation

The USD 350,000 Treasury contribution is announced as non-refundable. Refund terms on refusal have not been published. Do not commit funds before reading them.

06Suitability

Who it suits, and who should wait.

Worth a conversation

  • You want a Latin American nationality with ties to the Mercosur region
  • You can document the lawful origin of your funds end to end
  • You are comfortable applying early in a new programme
  • Your home country permits a second nationality

Better to wait

  • You need certainty on cost or timing before committing
  • You cannot accept the court case going against the programme
  • You need short-term liquidity from the bond route
  • You want years of approval data behind the programme

07Questions

Argentina citizenship questions, answered.

What are the requirements for Argentina citizenship by investment?

The main applicant makes a USD 350,000 non-refundable Treasury contribution or a USD 800,000 government bond subscription, and passes multi-agency vetting of identity, lawful origin of funds, assets, criminal record, reputation and immigration history under Decree 524/2025. A spouse and children can be included for reported amounts of USD 100,000 (spouse, and single children aged 18 to 25) and USD 25,000 (children under 18). The two-year residence normally required is reported as waived. Full eligibility rules have not been published yet.

Is the Argentina citizenship by investment programme open now?

Not yet. The government announced it on 2 October 2026 and expects applications to open in the fourth quarter of 2026. Implementing rules and the fee schedule had not been published as of 4 October 2026.

How much does Argentine citizenship by investment cost?

The announced contribution is USD 350,000 for the main applicant through the Treasury route, or a USD 800,000 government bond subscription. Reported family amounts are USD 100,000 for a spouse, USD 100,000 for each single child aged 18 to 25, and USD 25,000 for each child under 18. Fees are on top and have not been published.

Do I have to live in Argentina?

The investment route is reported to waive the two-year residence normally required. This comes from press reports of the announcement; we will confirm it against the regulation once published.

How long does it take?

No one can tell you yet. The only published deadline is that the Migration Directorate decides within 30 working days of receiving the Agency's recommendation. Be wary of anyone quoting a total.

Can you guarantee approval?

No, and no one honestly can. Approval is a sovereign decision after multi-agency vetting. Our job is to make your file complete, accurate and well evidenced.

What does the court case mean for me?

On 30 June 2026 the National Electoral Chamber declared Decree 366/2025 null in an individual case, holding that granting citizenship is for the federal courts. The government is appealing to the Supreme Court. If the ruling stands, the procedure for issuing investment citizenship may need to change. We will update this page when the Court acts.

Will I need to give up my current passport?

Argentina does not require it. Your home country's law decides whether you can keep both, and several GCC states restrict dual nationality.

Do you give tax advice?

No. A second nationality can have tax consequences depending on where you live. Speak to a qualified tax adviser in each relevant country.
